Edge of Place is a work that examines the peripheral topography of borderland regions within Europe and how they form an intersection between people and place.
Borders in Europe are latent and in constant flux, morphing from use to non-use and re-emerging as places of contention during border crises. Many regions still have the remnants of an infrastructure of division lying idle and abandoned. This work focuses on the ephemeral and cyclical nature of these structures and this contentious landscape - a landscape that is shaped by the legacy of conflict, mobility and division.
Many border areas have a shared and interconnected cultural history that is shaped through geographic reconfiguration and political sovereignty. This work puts an emphasis on the infrastructure of this divisive landscape and the cyclical and ephemeral nature of its use and obsolescence.
